Nestled intriguingly within a Shell gas station on 26700 S Dixie Hwy in Homestead, Arepas Venegara surprises every visitor with an authentic dive into Venezuelan and broader Latin American flavors. This vibrant family restaurant is a true culinary gem where tradition meets a casual, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home—even amid the hustle and bustle of a service station.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the rich, handcrafted menu, deeply rooted in Venezuelan cuisine. From the moment you try the Cachapa—a luscious, cheese-packed corn pancake lovingly described by Yordanis Alvarez as “something with so much cheese, a true delight for cheese lovers”—you know you’re in for a genuine treat. Another standout, the Arepa Reina Pepiada, bursts with creamy poultry and avocado goodness, embodying comfort in every bite.
For those craving hearty flavors, dishes like the Pulled Pork and soul-warming Sancocho perfectly capture the essence of home-cooked Venezuelan meals. Seafood enthusiasts rave about the Pescado Frito (fried fish) and Nedine Batts-Turner couldn’t praise the red snapper enough, calling it “OMG” and part of an exceptional dining experience. The menu also offers delightful snacks such as the golden, crisp Tequeños de Queso and perfectly fried Tostones, adding incredible texture and flavor contrasts to the meal.
Vegetarians and non-meat eaters will find thoughtful customization here, as Lisa Gokool highlights how the staff went out of their way to create a filling, meat-free meal full of quality ingredients, complemented by delicious fresh juices and a surprisingly addictive coleslaw that she describes as “the icing on the cake.” It’s clear that the team at Arepas Venegara values each guest’s preferences, ensuring everyone leaves satisfied.
Despite its unconventional location, the restaurant’s ambiance defies expectations. Monica Delgado shared how the place boasts a clean, organized setting with a warm and friendly vibe that instantly erases any hesitation about dining at a gas station. The parking is convenient, the service friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere surprisingly cozy—creating the perfect environment for a relaxed lunch or a casual dinner with family and friends.
Jose Maldonado’s words capture the overall essence best: “Authentic homemade food and service… portions are huge… food made right.” The genuine care in every dish and the welcoming approach of the team make Arepas Venegara an unforgettable stop when exploring Homestead’s vibrant food scene.
If you’re craving authentic Venezuelan comfort food served with heart and hospitality in an unexpectedly cool location, Arepas Venegara is a must-visit. The tantalizing aromas, the melty cheese, the perfectly fried snacks, and the friendly atmosphere all combine to create a dining experience that feels like a warm embrace from Venezuela right in the heart of Florida.
I had never tried something with so much cheese in my life, those people who like cheese have to try this, it's called Cachapa and it's very tasty, don't miss it.
Food was amazing!! The service was outstanding. Very friendly and warm atmosphere to be in a gas station. Try the red snapper omg!!!!!
This place is a hidden gem, friendly and fast service. Quality ingredients and customization was much appreciated. I don’t eat meat and they made sure to give me a very filling meal! I didn’t feel without. The juices and drinks are delicious. The coleslaw was the icing on the cake! Make sure you get the coleslaw. To anyone complaining about pricing, have you heard of inflation? Everywhere is expensive! I don’t mind paying for a good hearty meal that I can heat up the next day and it still tastes just as good! We’ve been there twice and will definitely be returning. Ohhh and the chicha
So glad we ended up at this place for lunch! We were driving around looking for arepas, and saw good reviews for this restaurant on Google so we decided to stop by. We were a little hesitant at first because it's located inside the Shell gas station, but the gas station was super clean and organized, the parking wasn't a problem for us (we got a spot in the front right away), and the restaurant is towards the back and also very clean and separated nicely. There are tables for you to sit and enjoy your food. We ordered ours to go, but we sat down while we waited. The food did not take very long to come out. We ordered arepas, chicharrones, and a mondongo soup. They were all very yummy! I recommend getting the garlic cilantro sauce for the arepas. This place actually fills the arepa up with toppings, unlike other places that don't. The staff was SUPER friendly and answered any and all questions we had regarding the menu. I realized while we were there that they are on Uber eats, and I'm excited to order from here and try more things! I would absolutely recommend this place.
Exploring the area we found this gem!! Authentic home made food and service. This is so good that we have been back here already a couple times !! From the Cafe con Leche up to the entree plates. Food is definitely made right and the portions are huge. We will be back and invite everyone to try it !!!
